Can you paint over wallpaper?

    technically, yes; but the paper needs to be in good shape, with no embossed, metallic, etc pattern; a primer that prevents bleed thru -- such as KILZ; you may still see some 'seam' lines that are hidden with the pattern of the paper - if the seams on the paper have separated or are evident you should use a painters caulk to smooth them over.

    Yes you can. Make sure all the edges are secure. Apply paint lightly in several coats, letting each coat dry thoroughly before another one is applied, to keep from saturating the paper to the point of loosening it. Keep in mind that any texture will remain after painting.

    A friend of mine had old fashioned grass cloth on her walls. Instead of taking it down, she put beadboard at the bottom painted a seafoam green, put up a chair molding and painted the grass cloth wall paper an ivory and it was STUNNING!!!

    Many say yes,however it is not a recommended practice as down the road the paint will bubble and peel
