A light, bright color will make a small room feel bigger and bounce the light around. Look at your existing decor and pick a color that would coordinate well - white, light grey, light blue, light yellow, all could work!
Hi. That's a tricky question. What's best depends on:
style - are you staying true to the age of the house or are you using your own style?
who - who's using the bedroom?
color - what are the existing colors that will remain in the room?
And last, what colors do you like? Bold, subdued. Once you decide on all these factors, you'll be able to narrow it down to a color that's right.
Hi again! Sorry, just saw your updated question. In my opinion, I would stay away from darker colors as they would make the room seem smaller. If thats a concern, use lighter colors and perhaps add mirrors to open up your bedroom a bit. Just an idea!😊
I would go with a light color, you don't have to have white, but stick to a lighter color that matches some of the décor you have I the room.
Using lamps with chrome or light colored bases and white fabric shades with 2400Kelvin -3100Kelvin LED bulbs will help enhance the room's appearance. You can also hang a mirror on a wall adjacent to the bedroom window to bounce more light.
Lighter floor color and furniture colors also help. A few darker pieces in the room won't matter, but avoid large, dark pieces, where possible.
Smaller rooms appear larger where all pieces appear to be within the same color family.
Your safest bet is to pick up multiple (4-8) color chips of the paint colors you prefer. Attach these chips on all 4 walls and beside windows and furniture, to see how they appear at various times of the day and night, before making your final selection.
Paint chips in the store rarely appear the same as they will in your home, due to lighting and elevation differences.
Thanks everyone. Great ideas.
