I do when still damp.
Try using a hair dryer on a very low setting. This should loosen the adhesive up.
I also do when damp/just completed the paint job.
Pull it when your ready, just pull in away from the paint ( perpendicular)
Semi-dry.
Just almost dry so that the paint will have a soft, even edge. 😇
