It will until it wears off, but it'll mainly be noticeable if there is a lot of light in the room reflecting off the piece.

I've found that yes with some and not with others. I would ask at a shop what wax (or other product) would give you the finish you desire.
Yes it should make it shiny but eventually will wear off.
Thanks to all who responded. I might just spray some semi-gloss polyurethane on the furnitureโฆ.canโt see myself polishing every week!
