How to repaint our welcome mat

Question

The mat is in great shape, - just the color I do not like.  So I want [I think] bright colors - latex paint was once suggested - with the instruction NOT to use them outdoors without a flexible sealer [which could not find] Suggestions?

chalk paint and then a coat of satin or flat poly top coat?? you can use the chalk paint on upholstery, why not this?? ASCP or CeCe Caldwell, or any of the others.

Just use outdoor paint.

I would use the poly, you can lightly sand between coats and apply several, if it lasts a couple years, then you can repaint or replace

these types of mats are made of old tires- ground up. i'd google how to paint tires, and go from there

I would wait until it is totally dry. Then dry brush with acrylic paint you can get at craft store. Afterward apply 2 coats of matt sealer.

Maybe paint and seal with a waterproofing agent like used for decks...or maybe even scotch guard.

I mixed acrylic craft paint with fabric extender, then painted away. Everyone thought I got a new mat. It looks great and is holding up fine. Then I used a brush on sealer on top.
