Here's the directions on how to paint a pressed board floor to prevent chipping and potentially rotting:

It should wear very well, but you do need to prep the wood, that is where the most important step is.
As a note, my parents used pressed wood as walls, rather than the conventional drywall. They applied coats of polycrylic and it has withstood the test of time without any any problem. It actually looks quite nice, but of course has never been walked on.
Prep is key. Especially for floors that get so much abuse. I’d buy a really high quality primer like one from Zinsser and prime
seperately. Otherwise your paint will come off.
Hello. Are you asking about painting on laminate floor?

Do you mean particle board floors or OSB (Oriented strand board)? these materials will swell if too much moisture is present. Sealing with an oil based primer would reduce the chance of this happening.

Great advice here, just don't seal it with anything too shiny or it could be slick to walk on. You want to make sure whatever product you use for that is made for flooring.
William has some great suggestions. Keep in mind the material as MDF or OSB can really "blow up" if it gets too damp.
I would use a 2-part epoxy paint only as this kind of sub-flooring will become destroyed if moisture gets into it. The cheapest might be to buy an epoxy garage floor kit.

Prime with Kilz original first. Then floor paint.
Is it pressed wood, like a particle board or OSB? Or is it plywood? Typically subfloors are plywood. If it's particle board or OSB, it's not going to be completely smooth, you'll feel little prickly bits walking barefoot on it. You'll need to clean the floor well then prime with a couple coats of a quality primer then paint and durably seal.
I would sand the whole floor first just to get out any bumps or pieces sticking up then paint the floor the color you want or stencil it and then paint with water based polyurethane do about 3 to 4. Coats.
