use citristrip a non toxic paint remover -

might use fingernail polish remover, but take it outside for God’s sake! -

Use paint stripper. -

Or paint thinner, but if the lamp originally had a finish or color, it might change that, take it down to the bare surface material of your lamp -

I suppose it depends what the original lamp is made of. glaiss, wood it will be fine. Plastics may be damaged by chemical removers -
