How can I stain my fence that has chicken wire on the inside?

I need to stain my fence. The outside is easy. The inside has chicken wire since we have dogs. I thought a sprayer would work but wasn't sure if it would stain the wire. Any suggestions for spraying or just hand staining with a brush.

I think using a sprayer is your best option. It will coat the chicken wire but if you use a pet friendly paint it should be fine. It’s not cheap but it can be had.

If the dogs chew on the stained chicken wire be prepared for some upset tummies and loose stool. But that is the worst it should get if at all. I would rather stain over the chicken wire so it blends in more with the fence and doesn't stand out. Depends on how long and high your fence is if you do this by hand or use a sprayer. A large area I would use a sprayer. Just be careful when it comes to runs.
it may initially get on wire but will not stay on it. to do boards I'd use a roller or brush(get more on the first coat) or you can spray them(spraying may need to do 2 coats and over spray can be wasteful) if dogs chew on the fence at all just make sure you use a non toxic stain
Hi,
Spray it, the chicken wire will not care.
It will come out great.

I would use a sprayer. You won't be able to notice the stain on the chicken wire.
