Can I paint directly over a particle board floor?

My daughter decided to tear up her carpet and the pad with no idea how she was going to pay for new carpeting. So, in order to make it look a little bit more 'homey', I thought some sort of paint might help. It sure won't hurt.

I would prime it first. and then paint with a floor paint specifically made for floors. Glidden Porch and Floor paint.

Yes you can. Just make sure you sand it really well. Fill in any gaps or holes with paintable wood putty. I prefer bondo wood filler. Put a couple of coats of primer on there, let dry well, then paint with floor paint, and add a couple coats of poly after that. She could even do a design on the floor.

I’d prime and paint with floor paint, then stencil on a cute rug or tile design. You can use regular paint as well, but will need to add poly over the paint of eventually it will wear off. Make sure you forget all the staples and carpet tacks out!

All great advice from previous comments... after painting another cool easy option is to get a nice size area rug to give a cozy warm place to step instead of the cold floor...lots of colors to choose from...
