You can try a good epoxy paint. But I really do not think it would last in the kitchen. If you have a Habitat for Humanity, go there and check out the flooring, it is really inexpensive and probably can be put right over those tiles.
Buy a tester pot of paint that is water based and do a test area of 1 tile and leave to dry, then decide if you like it or not.
if you don’t like it the get hot soapy water and scrub the paint off
Yes you can!! You will need to clean your floor then apply 2 coats of primer. Let everything dry thoroughly!! I used exterior paint for my floor. First, I read the specifications to make sure that it could be used for floors. The exterior paint I used was bought at Lowes for a clearance price of $13. Two coats were applied, letting each coat dry completely before another coat. Since I didn't have money for a sealer, the floor wax called Quik Shine was used. My floor is beautiful! So easy to take care of. It's good to remember that a painted tile floor may be sticky at first. But, after about a month, this seems to go away. It will be a little time-consuming, but worth it to anyone on an extremely tight budget. I wish you well, Susan
Yes, you can paint your kitchen floor. However, one thing everyone has not mentioned is HOW to clean your floor and WHAT to use to do it before you even think about putting down primer or paint. You need to clean it with TSP or TSP-like product. TSP isn't sold in every state.
Face it, kitchen floors get the brunt of everything, including grease. That TSP cleaner is going to get rid of that grimy stuff so your paint chips less and your primer goes down better. I would clean the kitchen floor WELL with this product at least twice before putting paint down.
Expect to eat out for a week while you do this ;-).... no one can walk on the CLEAN floor or after it's primed. A minimum of two coats of paint and at least one sealer coat is needed. Good luck!
PS: I have done this before to a concrete slab that was the floor of an old Texas ranch house I rented. It lasted 3 years before another cleaning and paint coat/sealer was needed.
I agree with the prep work. When there is a pattern on it like yours, the pattern will show but it actually looks really nice.
