Would it devalue my fireplace to paint it out in white? It is currently gray brick.

We have built-ins on either side of our gray brick fireplace, and I would love to paint the fireplace out in white. However, my husband feels it would be a bad idea.
I have used Fusion for a remake of a bedroom suite. And I know people use it for tables. (I also did a small foyer table but we don't eat off it). My concerns for a counter top would be: 1) food prep on the surface - it would not be impervious to knife cuts or food stains (like berry juice) 2) if you accidently put a hot pot on it, it might scorch. 3) not sure it could stand up to disinfectants if you need to wipe up something.
You could write to Fusion Mineral or Contact them through their site directly and ask! I love the stuff and I am a big fan, so I would like to hear what they have to say.
I never do food prep directly on the countertop-always on a cutting board, and no hot pots ever go on the countertop either. I make my own cleaning products, so not sure how much more harmful that would be than just soap and water. This Tough Coat Wipe-on Poly is what has me wondering if it might be possible, as non-porous paint and poly seems pretty impervious if applied properly with the Gripper product as primer. Then yet, maybe there is a reason it is not listed on the website.... Good to hear the paint worked well for you! I do at least want to try it for a couple of side tables. Will reach out to the company-have an email out to a store that stocks it, but no answer yet.
I heard back from Fusion Mineral Paint-it can be used countertops, but is not a long-term solution. Should last several years when applied with Ultra Grip and Tough Coat. And no food contact or cutting on the surface, and not leaving standing water.
Fusion has one called Tough Coat and it is water based and dries to a matte finish

Dee - am interested to know if you did your kitchen counter top with fushion paint and are you pleased with the result?
I think I'm going to try this!
