Painting an office chair

I want to paint my office chair. I know I can paint the fabric seat and back. I am wondering what kind of paint to use on all the other parts like arms, roller legs and back pieces. Did you take it all apart to paint? It feels like plastic pieces over the legs, etc.

Spray paint sticks to almost anything, but both Krylon and Rust Oleum both make a spray paint made especially for plastics.

@You're welcome Annette. If you can't find a very close match in colors, you could do accent colors.

Becky is correct..Use the Rustolem product ,test first and wait 2-3 days for more coats as they may lift off. if u dont..Best to use auto/car fabric color for the fabric if u want to use it a lot, lasts forever..

Use a bonding primer, to insure the paint stays on the chair, and not the clothes, or people who use the chair.

I have used a spray paint from the local shoe repair shop that I've used on shoes purses, etc. Never had a problem.
  • Orielly. Auto zone sells both the paint and primer..got it for my husbands car. To repair vinyl.

Wal-Mart sells a spray paint specifically for plastic, it comes in many different colors. I'm sure home depot or Lowe's sells it as well.

There is a spray paint that is made for plastic. I think it's called Fusion. The advice to use a primer is spot on but I don't think you need it with Fusion.
