Just sand the metal door and prime with rustoleum before painting with an enamal. The inside doors would be best painted or antiqued so the cat damage can be repaired without being visible. Also sand well and prime for best results and use a any finish other than flat. A coat or two of brush on poly can add extra protection
You do not need to replace! I would just repair, clean and repaint.
The front door can be sanded to get rid of the rust and give paint something to grab on to and painted with Rustoleum whatever color you want, they even have textures to choose from. The cat damage, fill in the scratches with wood filler, sand them smooth, following directions on the cans, put on your undercoat, sand lightly, then paint.
Great advice from Nancy! It will take some time but you can do it. Maybe start with the front door and as you gain experience and the tools, you'll gain confidence and knowledge. You'll have such a feeling of accomplishment once you've conquered it. From everything I've learned, the prep work is the most important part of a successful finish. Go for it!
