Sure you could paint it, or strip and stain it.
You can use apoxy paint. They come in kits with all items and instructions, but has to dry 48 hours before you can use water on or in the sink.
Sand, wipe clean and paint the cabinet. If you want you use special paint and paint the sink too.
You can paint it. Rustoleum makes some great bathroom paint kits.
