The cork floor in my kitchen is getting worn and some areas are faded from the sun. Has anyone ever painted a cork floor? Any other ideas? Thanks.

I have seen beautiful ones... check out the website for Royal Design Studios (they sell stencil stuff) they have a virtual tour on utube for their office which includes painted cork floors that are beyond amazing. Good luck!

Honestly I think your floors look pretty good. I think it's time to have them recoated with a poly is all.

I had darker cork floors in a home long time ago. I was able to buy some sealant for them and they looked great for many years. Check with Lowes or Home Depot.

Unfortunately, this paint job did not last. The paint/stain wore off the seams, and the lighter color shows through. Lesson learned - dark floors are hard to maintain, and show every little piece of crumb, dust, thread, hair, etc.

I am replacing the floor with luxury vinyl tiles.

Thanks. I washed with TSP, rinsed, and applied 3 coats of gel stain (oil based). Let dry about 3 days. I then applied 4 coats of Varathane, Diamond Wood Finish, water based. I used the Varathane applicator, which screws onto a broomstick.
