Question about painting a very small foyer?

I have a very small foyer with 4 doors. I am wondering if I should paint the trim and doors the same color as the walls so it does not appear so broken up by the white doors????

Keep the color light and airy and all the same

  • live with it with the white for a little while otherwise, why not try painting and see how it looks? It's your house.

Its up to you, paint 1 or 2 of the doors on each end one color and the other 1 or 2 doors another color leave it like this for a few days and see how you like it, or ask a friend/parent/neighbor what they like best. Its not rocket science do not be afraid its not that scary its just paint just do it.

Hi Sandy, thxs. for your reply. I know I could always re-paint but I have just completed so many DIY reno's the last 3 months just trying to save myself extra painting time but not having to re-paint if I do not like it... thus the request for input which is much appreciated.

Why not paint the doors a pretty color to give it a little personality of its own. Depending on how small the foyer pictures or other wall decor may help

Thxs. for answering. The foyer is VERY small and only one wall is even large enough to hang a small picture lol.

My entryway also has 4 doors (bath, pantry, basement and closet) AND the previous owner added a chair rail and wainscoting to this chopped up space. So I tried to neutralize it all with color and paint finish. The area below the chair rail is the darkest shade of beige in flat finish. The chair rail is several shades lighter in semi gloss the doors and trim are the same. The area above the chair rail is lighter still... almost white.

    I really like the results.

Just paint it a cohesive color, and don't clog it up with out of place stuff. Negative space is important in decorating so the cool stuff can really stand out.

Maybe you need a break, I myself just finished painting and know what you are talking about I just painted the living room a beige color and the doors are white, I painted one of the frames beige and the other one was white NOW I like the white color so I painted the frame white last week like the other one.....Don't stress yourself out, take it one day at a time unless your in a hurry and being in a hurry sometimes doesn't always work out...Org from Baden PA....
