Thinking about painting over knotty pine kitchen cabinets.

want to go white. we live in an old 1942 farmhouse. Any suggestions on what kind or shade of white would be nice.

    you're very brave ! Try a vintage creamy white...not stark white.

    I would go with a warm white or off-white. Behr has a gorgeous one called Soft Focus.

    Do two primer coats of Zinzer or Kilz to try to prevent the dark from the knots from bleeding through in a few years. That is a problem with knotty pine. According to my painter husband, it might even be wise to use an oil base primer.

    Or you could give them a white wash look. That way some of the wood grain would still show.

    I think a cream color with a white glaze looks really good. I had a kitchen done in that. Here's a few pictures to see what it looks like.

    I’ll give you 2 months and you’ll be changing the color from white to some thing else...I did the white cabinets thing....pia. Never looked clean, certain hi touch areas always grimy.
