I would definitely roll it and the paint type depends on where you are using the shiplap. I would discuss with the home-improvement store helper as to what type of paint and roller you should use

I think it's a matter of personal preference whether to spray or roll it. You could even brush it on. If you use a roller then choose once with a smooth finish. I like a satin or eggshell finish. Good luck on your project!

I would seal or prime the shiplap. It depends on the style of your home and your decor. The stain is good to maintain a wood look but paint can also add great color.

I think the satin or semi is a personal choice and depends on where it is. For example, in a bathroom, I'd use Semi but in a living room, I'd use Satin. But that's my personal opinion. I don't have experience painting shiplap so I tried google to see what's out there. I found and interesting article with the pros and cons of brush vs spray. This might give you some insight. https://thecraftsmanblog.com/brushing-vs-spraying-paint-which-is-best/

Here's a video showing a lady finishing a wall in 3 min. Don't you wish you could paint that fast. LOL Seriously she used a roller and a brush. Check it out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iei_Xjv3hqM
