Waterproof painted bathroom door

I just had to replace my bathroom door because the new shower splashes water. So what is the most effective way to waterproof this wooden door I just painted?

Enamel paint. They have low odor paint now, but still would be good to take it outside.

Another option might be to use a coat or two of Minwax polyurethane, which comes in a variety of lusters (matte, low sheen, etc), as well as either water-based or oil-based. Also, ehow.com has an excellent how-to for applying it.

Or marine paint that is used on boats.

ok, so I went to Lowe's and the guy said that as long as we used semi-glass latex, then it will do fine.... I really am wanting to add the poly coat! thanks all ya'll
