I have a faux rock fireplace that had strong brown and rust brown colours. I wanted to rip the whole thing out. Instead, I made chalk paint with Plaster of Paris and then watered it down - in an off white colour. I painted the stone with this - it was really quick to do. I used two coats and then touched up the really dark areas. I'm so happy with it and it has changed the room!Helpful Reply -

I have the same issue. Our concrete "stones" are stained to look like natural rock but they did not do a very good job. I know there are stains that can be used with cement and this is what I'm planning on trying.Helpful Reply -
