It depends on what type of ac it is.
hook up a hose to the opening and run the hose out of a window or side vent.
Hello Bennie; Do you have a small spout, outside, directly under the unit??? This would be a plastic spout that is not really noticeable.

Hire a professional.
Bennie; You can try and clean this spout yourself.
You will have to use a long brush designed for this purpose.
After doing that, place a large bucket under this spout. All kinds of gunk will come out of it.
If this does not help your unit run better, I would suggest calling in a professional.
I did this, and it helped for a season.
I had to recently call a Professional.
