You should not have water or mud around the a/c unit. I would call in a repair service.
I would dig a small trench to direct the water away from the unit, maybe put some gravel in there to make like a dry stream.
Why is water getting accumulated? do you need to clean gutters or downspout, or move downspout so it doesn't go near unit, or even add an extension to downspout to direct water away from unit and foundation.
Is the unit on a concrete pad?
You do need to maintain the area annually to keep it functioning good.
make sure the drainage around it leads water away, to keep what does pool from making a mess use pebble river rocks, it'll look nicer and keep the mess away
Hello Brigida; I too have had a problem similar to this. I have made a space all of the way around my system and I have purchased two very large bags of medium sized rocks, which I have set all of the way around.
It looks much better now, and I do not have any accumulation of water or mud.
I hope that this will help you!!! Take Care!
FRIST I would find or look where this water is coming from. If from a gutter down spout , I would redirect it away from my A/C unit. Next raise your unit my adding Concrete slab under unit, place cinder blocks to add height, or concrete pavers. Next grade the dirt around the A/C unit to direct any standing or flowing water away.
