Can a touch lamp be painted and still be a touch lamp?

I have a brass lamp , touch the metal part to turn on , 3 settings, can it be painted and still retain its touch -i-ness? KMS Woodworks etc?

There seem to be differences of opinion on whether you can do this, Bernice. But this article suggests you can: http://www.ehow.com/how_7852688_repaint-touch-lamp.html To be on the safe side, you might just paint a little square in an inconspicuous place and try to before committing to the whole project. Let us know if it works.

Personally I'm a fan of brass colored fixtures, but never having owned a touch lamp worst case scenario you would need to install a switch. Which could easily be done on the cord after hard wiring the light part inside. I may not be as convenient but at least you would still have a usable lamp.

Thanks guys.. the link is very helpful ...I just might go for it! Maybe The lamp shade too, which is glass! Lots of helpful info there. Kev, it has been brass for almost 30 years, it is smallish, it gets lost in the living room, as does the shade, but when lit, it does light up a dark area with "ambiance"...if it doesnt work I can always remove some paint in discreet areas, right? @Douglas Hunt @KMS Woodworks @ Thanks guys. ps I am learning how to use my IPad , an early anniversary gift..so am also learning how to do "research". something I have been weak in, but I will cetainly call on you fellas first! ha!

That's a really interesting question. I know the new touch screens won't work when I'm wearing gloves. . . they depend on the heat.
