I brush my 22 cats each day.one long hair, 1 short hair. I cover beds, furniture with sheets, fleece blanket. I vacuum their trees & beds & love Pledge pet ,Gonzo pet hair lifter, & tape lit lifters for all other items. Does anyone have an idea how to get rid of the hair when washing these items? I heard aluminum foil may help in the dryer, dryer balls & lint balls in washer don't do a thing. The hair turns into fuzz balls on clothes.

Is this a typo ? 22 as in twenty two and not just 2. Is it even legal to have that many? I know around here you need a special license to have more than 5 dogs. Brushing 22 every day and cleaning 22 cat boxes would be a full time job...how can you even have time to do laundry...LOL

Rusty, I ve tried a dryer sheet but not in the washer & I'll try to add 2 next time. I"ll have to be careful no microfiber sponges, towels, blankets are in the same wash as fabric softener defeats their ability to work.

wash by hand the dryer lint screen thingy (in your clothes dryer) if you use any softener. The screen tends to not collect lint or hair as well when there is a residue build up on it.

@GranArt A great idea for everyone.I have a new dryer & never used fabric softener liquid or sheets. I always use a cup of vinegar in the rinse to remove all residue. I'll have to try the dryer sheets.

I have cats and dogs my hair clothes I wash separate never with my other clothes. Be sure and check your hose to make sure the hose isn't crinkled, clean the screen under hot running water if you use softener because it does build up. Also turning off your dryer and unplugging, undo the hose and see if lint is collecting in the inside by reaching your hand into it. Clean it out. Your dryer should be picking up the hair and lint. I have 2 cats 2 dogs. My house is very clean except when Rags runs in with wet feet and brings in rocks and sticks. I am a animal lover who supports rescue. Animals love un conditionally. They offer a whole lot of love in return for kindness. They do more for us than we could ever do for them.

@Sherrie These are very important tips for everyone. I know of 3 people personally who lost their homes to fires caused by the dryers & or duct vents.I never go to sleep or leave the house with my dryer running,.I have dryer brushes to clean the lint chutes. I also go outside & run a small snake into the vents to loosen any lint/hair buildup Then I move my dryer & disconnect the solid metal vent from my dryer & clean the dryer there(you'll be surprised at what you find) & the inside of the duct where anything pushed free from outside may be.Dryers are VERY light & this is so easy to do.I only am this thorough once a year, but if you have a family & wash more than 2=3 batches a week, you should do this more often.Never use plastic vents or gathered aluminum ones as they invite fires by trapping lint. I like to be safe. My home is easy to care for so the fur is not a problem until I wash clothes!

Okay, okay, 2 cats. I was kind of wondering myself, how anyone gets their clothes clean with cats. My cat has the finest hair, and I mean wee tiny thin wispy hair that seems to go everywhere in the house, particularly when I do the wash... I don't know how to eliminate that, but then I go to work looking very fuzzy. Ms. Beth has suggested washing the lint filter, so that's worth a try! Thanks!

I have a cat so fat she is to fat to groom her self. So everyday I have to brush her, she hates me. I also have to bath her. Before anyone gets on to me about having a fat cat she was weaned way to early the vet told me this happens to these cats that are weaned to early. I use my old clothes and wash them separate. She has to be brushed everyday or her fur gets so matted she is miserable. Yes she is on a diet. My neighbor feels bad and feeds her regardless of what I say. I have elderly neighbors who love her.

Hi, Ms. Bernice, no, this is just a cute foto I found on the internet... He is very cute, isn't he? No, but my little orange cat does think he is a pirate, just like this guy!

Yes, I'm a cat lover and suffer the same dilemma.
  • I have a long-haired cat, Sammi Girl, and have to wash my comforter every week. I use sticky tape to remove the hair before laundering then also use sticky tape to remove the fuzz after laundering. I think the fur residue is just something we have to live with when having a pet.
