How to remove rust from an old singer machine frame?

I have a cast iron frame from an old singer sewing machine I want to refinish the iron frame. What is the best way to the remove rust?

Try CLR calcium/lime/rust remover. Home Depot should have this.

Try a bottle of Cola and a wire brush (no joke!) Cola has been used in the past to treat rust and other types of corrosion...it also shines chrome. Think about that the next time you order a soda...what is it doing to the stomach?!

Depending on how much rust you have and how far you want to go with refinshing the metal you can have it sandblasted.

coca cola and steel wool, less scratching than a wire brush (It will also remove corrosion from car battery terminals!)
