Take it apart and clean it.If it runs off batteries, remove them first, then take a damp Qtip and clean around the stuck button.Let a drop or two of water get down in there to unstick it.Turn it over and tap it in the palm of your other hand to get the water out.If that doesn't work,at least you tried.Clean it after each use to prevent this again later.

thank you very much. I will try this later. I'll try and let you know if it works.
I'm going to do both right now... and see
okay, thanks to both Renee and Diane. I tried both suggestions. I also finally found an utube concerning, " the waterpik handle button stuck". The video was about four minutes. I could tell that I would have difficulty taking it apart and doing what the main was showing. Not only that, but after he claimed to fix it, it was leaking and the water pressure wasn't very good.
I cleaned it, then soaked it in vinegar about 25 minutes. Then I ran vinegar water through the machine, that was now working. Then I rinsed it with clear water.
I wasn't sure if this would work this way. The man fixed the device by working with the coiled metal spring inside. However, besides what I told you, he broke some of the teeth to snap it back together.

THANK YOU. I didn't have to purchase a new one!
I called Water-Pik and was told to soak the handle once a month in 50-50 solution of white vinegar and water. Unplug first! I did this and the button is unstuck!
