  • there are ways to purchase them from companies that deal in just warranties. but you have to decide if the prices of the warranties are worth it.

The less you pay for a warranty on a used appliance, the less you get paid. And don’t buy one from any company that doesn’t come and check out each appliance to be covered. It’s better (imho) to have a contingency savings account to help with emergencies. ☺️

I get warranties for most appliances when they are new, usually if you are going to have problems with them it will be within the first year or two. We, a couple of months ago had grey spots showing up and expanding across the top of the screen of our two year old 55 inch TV. We had a five year warranty on it and called best buy. Since it was a screen problem, it was replaced with the closest one that has the same features. Since 3D is no longer made, they upgraded us to a 65 inch with all the other features we had. If we didn't have the warranty we would have had to pay full price for a new TV. If we had bought used, we would not have purchased a warranty. Things like TV's don't last like they used to before flat screens. Appliances like a washer and dryer can go for years without problems and those warranties you can buy are really expensive for each year you pay for it and you would end up paying as much for the warranties over those years as you would buying a new set. Put that money away to put towards a new set down the line when they do break down and most likely you will have enough for a really nice new set.
