Need to replace the handle screw on inside lid of the crock pot slow cooker lid. Are there any food contamination issues I need to consider with the chosen metal screw?

I don’t think so....most of the time the food doesn’t get up on the lid.

Hello Anonymous :) I certianly can't think of any EXCEPT you do NOT want it to be made of lead nor rusted. Aluminum, copper, stianless steel, all work well, but I am posting to you dor your enjoyment and information. Good Luck and thank you for asking Hometalk for informaiton :)

Stainless steel. Any other metal will be affected from moisture and heat. Home Depot or Menard's. Take the handle with you. Can be coarse or fine thread and U.S or metric.

I used a outdoor spigot handle and an aluminum screw. But, I was worried more about functionality vs eye appeal. But, it still works great and no issues on rust. Don't forget the washers on each side of the glass....
