Best way to fix hairline crack on plaster

remodeling a rom and new wall are drywall but some old plaster have hair line cracks, seeing if anyone has any ideas? if I tape and spackel will make wall too smooth where patch is

Get drywall patching & apply light coat in crack until full & wipe off with damp rag or paper towel & let dry. When dry if its a little higher then rest sand a little bit then wipe off & paint. Good luck.

For plaster cracks, repair with plaster of Paris. I tried to repair ceiling cracks with drywall compound and it did not hold.
