We are wanting to lock off a bedroom at the end of a passage for rental purposes. Any suggestions as how best to soundproof it from the main house?

You can put a bookshelf there (filled with books of course) to help block off sound.

Great idea Shoshana, thanks so much. I had a cupboard custom made to fit the space where I was to store towels, bed linen, blankets and spare pillows. I failed to take into account that it would first have to be moved into place past a door jam. Try as we might it just wouldn't fit . Just love your idea. Wow!

Cover the wall in styrofoam. You can get 4'x8' at home depot. And if for some reason you don't want to look at the foam you can wallpaper it or cover in a pretty fabric.

You can cover your wall with eggs packagings and then leave it like this, paint it, or cover it with a new pannel... Or you can aply some thin or thick polystyren. These are product especially made for that pupose. You can also cover you polystyren with eggs packagings and then cover it for better results...
