How to repair hole left in wall by old intercom removal

The hole is in the sheetrock in our guest bedroom, near the wall switch. The wall is textured too.

You can purchase mesh screen to use with spackle and try to copy the texture then repaint. I used the mesh to cover a hole left by an old telephone hookup. Take your time.

I once had to repair a wall by purchasing a piece of Sheetrock, and using a square template I drew it on the piece of Sheetrock. I did the same on the wall. Using a jigsaw blade I cut both pieces out. Fit the piece you cut out of purchased Sheetrock into the one where the hole in wall was. Use spackle to fill in ( did I use glue? Can't remember). Match the texture to your wall and paint.

You can buy textured spackle in a spray can, in Florida it is call orange peal. You can get it a Lowes or Home Depot. You really should patch the hole first , Place a small piece of wood behind the hole and screw it in from the front than screw a piece sheetrock to the wood, tape and spackle sand and use the spray

tie a piece of string in a piece of screen and insert it in the hole. pull out till almost flush with the wall. Take a spatula and fill the hole with sheetrock mud. allow to dry and sand till smooth. ( may have to apply the mud more than once). after it is sanded, use the orange peel spray. dont get too close and do a small amount at a time. let dry then paint.

Thanks Ann! Is the "mesh" available in hardware stores? Is it like screen mesh, or a special kind?

Another way is to cut a piece of sheetrock about 3 inches larger than the hole you need to repair. Turn it over and make a cut on each side 1 1/2 inch from each side. The cut will go all the way from top to bottom and from side to side....Now carefully break the sheetrock along these cuts and carefully peel the sheetrock off the front paper...Do this on each side....What you are left with is a piece of sheetrock a little smaller than the hole with paper edges you can overlap the existing sheetrock....Apply some sheetrock mud on the wall at the edge of the hole and place your patch in place and use a putty knife to smooth out the mud/lip...Apply more sheetrock mud around the edges and smooth and wait for it to dry....Sand smooth and apply texture....I use the can stuff at Home Depot....Wait for it to dry and then paint.
