How do I remove stuck light bulbs from a bathroom fixture?

The last time I had to replace them they broke off, the bulb broke into pieces and separated from the socket

Stick a potato into the socket and turn. It should come right out.
Be sure to turn off the power
Cut potato in half and jam one piece over socket and twist. Make sure light is turned off.
TURN OFF POWER to the light and cut a potato in half. Take one half, press onto bulb remains and twist.
