The dimmer the light the less voltage!
It has a lot to do with Amps as well. The higher the amperage the more electricity you use.
It's not because you dim your lamp that you'll use less energy. Sometimes it's eventhough the opposite. It depends of your lamp Amps, and lamp type (led, fluo, wire, halogen, etc...)
Very grateful for all the replies, but they are all 'it depends...' so I haven't learned anything!!
