How can I repair a creaking wooden glider rocking chair?

It doesn't make the sounds all the time when in motion but it happens frequently and more and more often. My husband and I have both tried lying on the floor to observe what happens as the chair rocks but cannot see anything that would explain the clicking and louder clunking noises we are hearing. The chair is 14 years old and I love it so replacing it won't be my first choice. Suggestions?

Hi Karla, is there anything that needs to be oiled or greased? Perhaps it's just age or a bit of rust in the works. Also, sometimes things become loose and a little tightening of the screws at the joints can help.
Karla: I'm a big fan of WD40
Try a wood swelling product in the joints.
If WD40 doesn't get rid of it, you might have to replace the 8 glider rocker bearings. They are about $60-$70 for a set.
