in most cases you can buy or build a set of blocks for the job. I would be sure that the blocks were wide enough to be stable and secure them to the existing legs on the couch. The best idea is to have them sitting into a well on the top of the extension and either screw or glu them into place. Depending on the age/rambunctiousness of the others who will be around both the screws and glue might be a good idea. In both cases make any well deep enough & snug enough to get a fairly clowoman but not tight fit, bring up high enough to look good & unless covering with a skirt I would paint or stain to match the rest of the piece/pieces in the room.

    Good luck & stay safe,

I had this problem when I had knee replacement surgery. My son solved it for me by putting a 4x4 under both the front and back of my sofa, the full length of the sofa.Worked like a charm, and since my sofa had a wood trim anyway,it blended right in.I actually left it there until I got new furniture last year. This may not work if you have bare floors, mine is carpeted.

If this is not just while recovering and you want a more permanent solution, you can get replacement furniture legs from a house and garden store like Lowe's or Home Depot and replace existing shorter ones. Or you can build a riser of 2x4's to set the furniture on. We did that for a desk to be used by a rather tall man, stained to match the desk.

you might try raising the sofa from underneath by putting wood blocks under the legs ..or maybe those bed risers you can buy. Keep in mind those come in standard heights and they may be too tall.

Buy new legs at the hardware store, take one of the old legs off your couch for an example.

Cheap, easy - purchase Bed Risers. They come in plastic or wood. They fit under each leg to raise the sofa (or bed) 4-6" depending upon which you buy.
