How can I put casters back on my kitchen island?

The problem is that one of the casters came off my kitchen island and when I looked the hole it was in was far too big. I bought the island off craigs list and have had it several years. I can see that the original owner had tried to fill the hole with something but it must have worn away. The guy at Home Depot was not helpful. I tried to find new casters with a metal plate but could not find any that were 2"x2" which is the size I would need. Does anyone have any ideas? I thought I might have to find feet and not have the roll around feature, but haven't seen any that would work. Thanks for any help you can give.

If the caster is still functional and the wide hole is the problem just pick up some saw dust from your local carpenter or hardware store that cuts lumber to size for projects and ask the lumber department attendant to gift you some sawdust from their machine. I picked up from my local home depot a bucket full for crafting.

mix a couple tablespoons of saw dust with industrial glue, and liquid nail flip your kitchen island wheels side up clean the hole blow dust out form a past with the ingredients place some in the hole and insert the tip of the caster back in and leave overnight for compound to dry don't worry if some spills out. make sure you put enough so no empty space is left. This dries rock hard and you will have your island back in use in no time.

    Enjoy

maybe you could put duct tape or masking tape on the part of the caster that slides in this will make it fatter and maybe sit in there tighter

Thanks Debker, I did try that and it worked for a short time but I think the continual movement as the island was re-positioned must have loosened it up again.

Best solution would be to fill the hole with wood glue and a dowel to fit. Drill a new hole in the dowel for the caster.

Thanks William, for your reply. Not sure if I can find a dowel big enough but will have a look. I appreciate your help.
