Oxygen tubing gets tangled! Help!

I have a friend that is on oxygen and confined to a wheelchair. The oxygen machine is centrally located and the tubing is long enough to get her to the most distant point of her apartment. The excess tubing keeps getting tangled. Trying to come up with something retractable? Oh, and she is 95 yrs young and sharp as a tack!

Hi Niheala! I saw a youtube video not too long about about this same thing. A retractable oxygen hose. Check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DRVEDJTtRO8 Good Luck!

I wonder if instead of having it lay on the floor that some kind of overhead track could be installed. I'm thinking her wheel chair won't run over it and it should give her mobility.

Hi Niheala, I am on oxygen too. I watched the video above and was disappointed with it. I would not like to carry the hose reel around with me. It was also bumping into furniture and seems bulky. I use a connector that spins just like the ones used on a fishing rod. It solves some of the trouble but not all. My tubing still tangles a bit. I recommend using the very least amount of tubing as possible. I would also contact her oxygen supplier and explain her problem. They might be helpful.

There is a new device called the Oxygen Tube Remote. It is a remote controlled oxygen reel that might be very helpful. Their website is www.oxytubecontrolbags.com They have videos and it looks very easy to use. Hope this helps!
