Fixing cracks in concrete blocks- how do I fill the cracks?

The back of my 50 year old fireplace is concrete blocks and is in my garage. The fireplace has settled over the years leaving cracks between the blocks. The inspector said they are only cosmetic and it is structurally sound. How do I fill in these cracks in the mortar before I paint it?

Just make sure that whatever you fill the cracks with will tolerate the heat generated and that it is not flammable.Helpful Reply -

Go to your local home improvement stores and ask the associate in that department what to use. There are tubes of mortar just for that. We did that with the back of our fireplace, which is outside next to the driveway. We just removed some of the old mortar and replaced it with the new.Helpful Reply -
