Yes... i have had a plumber snake a drain, now, I put the really thick draino in it about every two months to keep it clear. Mine is the line form the kitchen garbage disposal....
We've used Draino a couple of times over the years and it's worked like a charm!
if the snake didn’t clear it, you probably have problems drano won’t clear..caustic drain cleaners are not all they’re made out to be and can cause problems..
Which drain? Do you have a septic tank? Do you use biodegradable tissue paper such as Scott. If not, you need to start now. Anyway, I read about a way to clean drains. Warning, treat only one drain at a time. Buy one gallon of bleach for each drain. Each night before going to bed slowly pour one gallon of bleach down the first pipe. Put a note by this drain so that no one, including you turn on the water. In the morning, turn on the hot water and allow it to run for a little bit. Then do another drain the next night till you are through.
You also need to avoid placing egg shells, coffee grounds, meats, fats, grease or oils down your drains. Fatty soaps exascerbate drain clogs, requiring weekly treatments of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide or vinegar. Let set 1 hour, then flush with 1-2 gallons of boiling water. You may notice black slime surfacing in the drain. If so, wipe it up and throw it in your trash. Wipe drains clean using Q-Tips to reach as far as possible, removing additional slime.
Is it the only drain with trouble? Which one is it? Is it the closest to the sewer pipe heading to the street?
Try a denture cleanser such as Polident.
Did you hit the clog with the snake and find it unmovable? If so, I would not use Drano as I don't think it will work. Or was the clog too far away to reach? If so, I'd expect a drainage problem in more than one drain.
