Shutting off main water to do some plumbing, must I drain hot W tank?

I'm replacing my tub/shower faucet, no shut offs there so I am shutting main water off, do I have to drain the hot water tank too or will it drain automatically? There is a shut off at the hot water tank would that eliminate the need to drain it?

If you are shutting off the water main. That stops all water going into the house. There is no need to drain the water heater.
No, just shut off all valves leading to the tank.
Agree with Sal85902. No need to drain the tank. You may want to open the hot side of a faucet to relieve the pressure.
