Most have a thermostat dial for setting temps. Try setting it lower. If that will not work, you will probably have to call a plumber or replace the hot water heater..

There should be a regulating dial on the main heating unit. It will take a day or two to notice the correct temp after changing the setting on an older unit. ( Newer units heat the water as its used i believe. Older units keep a quantity sitting at the selected temp.)

Since I turned the temperature down, but that didn't change anything, what else can I do, or what else can it be that my water is so hot?
