Save grocery bags and buy wax paper. Scrunch the bags up in the hat to hold it's shape. Spred wax paper to cover the table under the hat. Spray on the spray starch like paint and let dry ovenight. Flip over and spray the rim lightly. Let dry overnight. One more coat right side up. Let dry and you are done!
I recommend using a product called stiff stuff you get it in the fabric dept. and this will make your hat very stiff.
Adding horse hair braid to the brim underneath will help stiffen up as well.
What is the material of the hat? I can't tell you if Sta Flo Starch will work. I remake felt hats to look like something from the 1800's. I use Kahl Hat Stiffner. It is a little pricey, so I would search to find the best price. Can run from $15 to $20 a bottle. Good luci
