Question

When you punch a hole in the new tube of ointment, how do you stop it from continuing to come out...giving you way more than you need??

Yup, that happens! Unless it is not supposed to be refrigerated, I pop in the fridge a few minutes before opening a new tube for the first time. I also have little solo condiment cups with lids, like you get at take out food. If too much comes out, I put it in one of those, put a post it on it and use that first. I get a prescription for my arthritis and that happens every time I open a brand new tube. Hence the solo cups.

You need to poke the hole without squeezing the tube at all. It still happens to me and I'm a nurse, opening tubes all the time. Don't squeeze the tube before you get the hole poked.

I found out this happens the hard way too, but a problem recognized is half solved, right? AS SOON AS you punch the hole, put your finger over it. Have the cap ready to quickly put it back on after getting only the amount you need.

Wrap a piece of tape around it. Keep sharp objects away from it.

Hello, hope this helps you out. Before you open the new tube gently knock or tap the bottom of the tube opposite the cap end on the counter to release any air bubbles before you unseal it.
