Is it a wooden door or metal?

It can no doubt be fixed but if you could tell us is your back door wood, aluminum or vinyl. That would give us more information for how to fix it.

I just had to replace the threshold and underneath was a real mess… It was from all the rainy days hitting against bottom of my outside door and not having a large enough overhang to protect it… If you're not careful it will truly cause a lot of damage

You don't say where or how it is damaged. A picture would be great.

There are metal "kick" sheets the width of doors and about 4 inches high, made especially for doors that can cover damage.

You can get wood filler and repair the damage that way. You will have to sand and paint.

Probably! Can you tell us a bit more?

Sand any rough edges as best you can. Even if it is a large area that needs to be repaired, it can be done. You will need to purchase some Bondo wood filler ( not the original Bondo filler) The only place I could find this was on line at Amazon. Follow the instructions on the can. You may want to test some on an old scrap of wood to get used to how it works.
