What key will work in our indoor Victorian locks?

We are looking for a key that will work in the attached Victorian indoor house lock. Anyone know which type we should buy?

@Ethan Kurzweil What gorgeous knobs & back plates! I agree with Mickey & Boo Boo, I am green with envy! From what I can tell of the photo it doesn't look as if there is an inner piece that the key needs to fit onto, so most likely any standard skeleton key would work, you can get replica ones at Walmart or most any hardware store. (not terribly decorative though) If a standard skeleton key won't work take the knob & back plate off to see if there is any kind of makers name on it, then search google for a replacement key for that particular one. Good Luck! I see there is something stamped into the latching mechanism for the door so you might be able to find out the maker & type of key needed to replace it without removing the knob & back plate so check that out first before doing that.

I had this type of door handles in older apartments in Chicago a long time ago. It looks to me that a standard skeleton key should work.

VanDyke's Restoration online would have keys for you....I got 6 for an old locking oak dresser. Also, look for a cabinet maker...he can examine the lock and then order keys for you online....there are different keys for these old locks dependent on how many 'teeth' your lock has. I would order extra ones just in case!

Skeleton key. Our cabin locks are like these and we needed some extra keys made. They were expensive to have copied. I found a bowl of old skeleton keys at an antique store. Several of them worked in our locks even though they were slightly different from each other. If you find one that works hardware stores can copy them.

If you take the whole lock off and find someone who makes keys, they may be able to make a key to fit. I did this years ago for an old armoire and the keys worked great.

If you remove the lock, it should have a 'letter' stamped on it.  A locksmith should be able to supply the key.

Check out antique stores, thrift shop, flea markets and auction houses! That's where I get mine from. You might have to get s few bc they come in different sizes. As someone previously mentioned you could take the lock off the door and take it with you to make sure the key fits!
