there are codes for stair cases....the spindles need to be close enough that a child can’t get thier head thru...you may want to work with a pro.

If staircase parts are not installed correctly, the situation may become a safety issue, which, besides putting yourself and your family at risk, could also be a reason for your insurance company refusing a potential claim.
