Need ideas to re-do my steps

I would like to replace the carpet on my 13 stairs with laminate (to match my flooring), since wood is too expensive. Has anyone tried that? Is it durable?

I did that with my basement stairs. Were covered with some old cheap glued down vinyl tiles with aluminum bullnose edge. Removed the aluminum, washed the vinyl, and glued then laminate flooring right over it. Looks great and has held up. Steps are like floors. They just go up.
Yes, I have had the carpet removed from my staircase, and had laminate installed. It's been 2 years now, and they have held up to 3 dogs, 3 adults, 1 child and lots of cleaning (dogs shed!). Go ahead and do it! So much nicer than carpet. I am planning to put faux tiles on the risers next.
Begin by pulling the carpet and padding up. Then remove all of the nails and staples. If there is tack strips involved, take them up too. Vacuum and clean the stairs well. Then attach the laminate like you did on the floors. Use bull nose trim on the front of each stair. Don't forget to buy 10% more of required materials to allow for mistakes. Best of luck to you.
