Sadly, this may be a write off, you say you have bugs stuck in it. I would suggest you spend more time with the kids and make a redo, then finish it with a nice spray lacquer, at least once it is dry it is set. https://www.wayfair.ca/Krylon--Crystal-Clear-Spray-K1303-L2555-K~OIX1982.html?refid=GX114558807430-OIX1982&device=c&ptid=173397507200&targetid=aud-175036624590:pla-173397507200&network=g&gclid=Cj0KCQjwz7rXBRD9ARIsABfBl82tWj7MHn1WdprY-XNdG12U4SuVYVgoKWObfED7rQmDQ4cj-f9lwBMaAvvSEALw_wcB
The above answer is good. I think you could use a fine grit sand paper and lightly sand the acrylic top to get the bugs out. Then maybe use a different top coat ?
I think you should do it again and then put it somewhere that has no insects. hope it gets better soon
Sand it down, to get rid of bugs. Get an apoxy resin (two part), where its a 1:1 ratio, so you dont have to worry about getting the measurements wrong. After you pour the resin put a tarp or card board over it to protect it. Not directly on it just right above. The new resin will fill in any sanding grooves you've done.
