How do I fix grout after it has already dried?

I am tiling a dog wash station using both river pebbles and tile. After grouting the area that meets the pebbles, I realized the grout needs to be thicker. Can I just add more grout to the area of transition or do I have to remove what I already put in and start all over?

It depends on how much room the grout has to grab onto material and key into the materials. You may need to use a dremel or grout knife to clean some or all of the grout from the thickest parts so that the new grout is thick enough to grab onto something. Otherwise it could just spall away from surface. In any event, make sure to wet the old grout before applying the new grout.
