How can I upcycle canned good cans?

cover or paint and use for craft supplies, planters (drill a hole in bottom for drainage) store paint brushes, fill with water and freeze then drill holes in the shape of a star or letters and add a candle, desk top pen storage.

I saw a project where someone made Halloween decorations by painting orange then doing a jack-o-lantern face but can't find it now.
